Noodle & Pie

People seem to have taken my previous entry as an exhortation, when it was really only a personal resolution -- but if it gets more folks back to LJ, I suppose that's good. I know this is no longer a fashionable blogging platform, but the things that are popular, like Instagram, I don't understand. Old fogies of the Internet, unite.

Today we had lunch at Noodle & Pie, Eman Loubier's ramen joint on Magazine Street. Both the noodles and the pie were excellent. Grey was very game about eating ramen, though he poked dubiously at his soft-boiled egg and gave me the hairy eyeball for having told him nori was "a kind of flavoring" when he could see that it was, in fact, seaweed.

Frak being "fashionable". I'll be here till they pry my cold dead fingers from my keyboard. lol (and I have many friends who feel the same)

I have an everlasting account as well.

I'm still here. I don't "DO" instagram. I barely use twitter.

Can we invent an old fogie hand shake? I can still clearly remember the sound of dial-up and "you've got mail" when it finally connected. Or "goodbye" when a phone call would kick you off.

I took it as inspiration. I still load my friends page at least once a day (even though I could probably skip two or three days and still be able to catch up easily). I miss old-school LJ. Twitter gives me a headache. Instagram is fun only for the filters. Facebook makes me feel stalked by coworkers and family that I do not even truly like that much. I like my blog here too much to entirely give up hope.

I'd try a place that had both ramen and pie. We need a fogie decoder ring.

I am actually happy that livejournal has lost its mojo as THE blogging platform. It means that the only people who are posting are the ones with something to say. All those horrible one-line updates, video postings, conspiracy theories, links to articles and quiz results are now on Facebook.

Well, your previous post did not begin with 'dear Self'... :)

I like it here, because it feels like you can say anything: good, bad, happy, sad. I was briefly on FB some four years ago and out there it almost felt as though you could only say something happy. Just... say a shiny thing and keep it short. Bother not others but try to make them bother you.

I did not know how.

I don't really "get" Instagram as a blogging platform, but maybe it's because of the folks I follow who are mostly ones who post food and beer pics. :)
